Sanrio shops in Japan

Sanrio's own shops trade under two signs: Sanrio Gift Gate, the long-standing format found in department stores and shopping centres, and Sanrio vivitix, aimed at older customers with a quieter range. Both sell new goods at list price — Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, Pompompurin, My Melody and the rest — with seasonal collections and shop-limited items that do not come back. Character goods rotate with the yearly character ranking, so a shop looks different from one year to the next.
